Ok so while we’re still getting things off the ground here, enjoy a nice parody on the mac switch adverts.

Those that don’t know but care to find out; there is a hack for editing the scene files for the Panasonic HVX200 that means you can get any frame rate you want between 2fps and 50fps on PAL (2-60 on NTSC). I use the term ‘hack’ very lightly…To find out how go here for Barry Green’s run down. It’s super easy and it turns out that it is only because Panasonic testers didn’t have enough time to fully test every frame rate so weren’t allowed to give it to you as standard on the camera.

So with new frame rates in tow - we went to shoot some timelapses with the shutter on 350 d and see how the camera fairs at night time.

There’s a dodgy pan in there but this is just a test. You will see a lot more footage coming soon!

Lucky devils!

This is all just test footage, getting used to the p2 workflow and testing out 50fps. Not quite utilising the beautiful Iris yet as you’ll see from a few over exposed shots. None of the footage has been graded this is straight out of the FS100!

Not only that but it’s been youtube-ified. They claim to roll with HD but crunch the hell out of the poor little pixels. (Maybe time to move back to vimeo.)

The sexiest of all the cameras - the Panasonic HVX200. (in true manifestation style it is indeed the camera featured in my last post ‘Skateboarding in 60p’ - thankyou universe!)

So this means only the finest pixels from here on in. Variable frame rates up to 50fps and down to 2fps (see the following 2 posts for test footage). Records straight on to my Firestore FS100 which has 100 sweet GB of space. Completely removing the age old hassles of capturing DV tapes! Not only that but the footage has yet had a reason (other than Magic Bullet) to render!

This is by far the best thing i’ve heard today…It’s only 10:30 am so I suppose there’s room to be pipped but it’s unlikely.

Naturally 7 blow the TED crowd away in a one-of-a-kind vocal performance. I’m not sure which i like most: the fact that TED brought these guys in, or the fact that these 7 guys can go from heavy beats to pure harmony in the blink of an eye!

Mighty me! World humour is alive and well!

Just when I thought the world had resigned to accepting tat for gold, some crafty Yanky cats have sprung a wee gem. I can honestly say I haven’t laughed this much in a while (excluding daily appreciation of my own endless wit). Critique wise, they’ve perfected it. The middle bit with the random dialogue was clearly the hardest part, and they risked delving into classic corny crud, but if this is when it went back in the bag, they pulled it right back out again. If my own voice wasn’t overly angelic I’d be tempted to give this technique a try, but as it stands, I can’t wait for more from this crew. Multi-props America!

Nu-Retro Geek Rap? or just cool as fuck?

I’m rolling with the latter, anyone perpetuating nostalgia from our younger years and mixing it with some genuinely good flowing lyrics gets my vote.

The video is made by, and advertising dubnasty.com.  A group of video production/games enthusiasts on a mission to create their own ‘dubnasty’ NES game. Quite the unusual mission considering most people either binned or sold their NES systems long ago - but i can imagine it would probably be worth picking one up for cheaps if they do manage to make the game.

But just a side note here: I understand that there will inevitably be hundreds of viral videos that I won’t have seen each week, especially while this site is still being built up and time is spent elsewhere. SO if you see a video that you think is worthy of the prestegious ‘Viral of the week’ title - then post it in the comments of the most recent Viral Mondays and it will be watched and considered for next week’s!   Do it!

Adobe Cushion Suite

When i was described these Creative Suite cushions, the image in my mind was a great one. “what a fucking genius idea!”

Post-actually seeing them i feel a little more like an 8 year old with the promise of an xbox for christmas, only to find that my nan actually just knitted me one…

Still, Stu’s idea of gaining a new cushion for each program you master is pretty legendary.
