Yeah it’s not for everyone. But they’re most definitley not doing it for everyone… I actually don’t think they’re doing it for anyone. Odd Future, WOLF GANG, Tyler, The Creator, Earl … There’s a lot of buzz about these guys on the interwebz, and more so now since getting some TV time in America and  then Kanye West literally just ( 13 hours ago from time of writing this ) tweeted to his gazillion followers that Tyler’s new music video for YONKERS is the best music video of 2011 ( check it out below) and I never thought i’d say this, but Kanye’s right!

It’s awesome, this kind of obscure not-taking-its-self-seriously kind of hip hop from people born in the 90′s! And it doesn’t stop at just ‘hip hop’ the genius of Tyler shines through in all their videos (which aren’t all music videos). I think people will be talking about Tyler for years to come.

Here’s a couple more

One thing that really intruiged me about the feautures of Unity 3D was the collaboration / asset library tool – it made out like you could browse a library of user-uploaded content (models, prefabs etc) and through that begin actual dialog with the person who developed or designed what you downloaded…. I have yet to find this feature in the program but the forums (on Unity3D.com and other community sites) seem thriving with developers, designers, artists – all sorts!

When you first open the program, it loads you up with a demo scene / game… Not expecting much when i installed it  this literally made my jaw drop.. I saw the scene and thought ..OMG… A) my mac is still functioning at a normal speed… B) this forest / run down buildings / lake with waterfall scene looks incredibly detailed!… C) WTF i run the game and i have a fully functioning Call of Duty style character with gun and controls system to roam free inside this crazy forest…

OK so as a place to start from, this feels good. Giving you the working environment of something that is already built and functioning is the perfect tool to learn; I can now look in to each element individually, see what makes it work, copy it, paste it in to a new scene, and play..!

It’s not quite as easy as that though, as you would expect. This isn’t just a copy and paste shindig, there’s some serious tools at work here and for programmers already versed in various languages, it’s possible to create some awesome and complex stuff. But it really is script based (javascript)

For 3D modellers / artists ; it seems you can import your scenes from Cinema4D straight in to Unity, not only that but character rigs and objects etc. again… amazing.

For me, now, all i want to do is firgure out the basics… Firstly, understanding the controller scripts and how that works with your character. I’ll post any interesting updates but for now, check out some examples of Unity 3D in action :

For those that haven’t yet seen this, do yourself a favour, take 5 minutes out of your day – tell it where you grew up and then ball your eyes out… This is beautiful,  and such a great experiment with in-browser interactive music videos. Perfect marriage of music and content too it just blows me away every time.

It is made for Chrome though, safari plays the windows a bit funky – so use chrome yeah? nice
